Question: Discuss about theHuman Resource Management for Imaginate Company. Answer: Introduction Team work is one of the key criterions to effectively accomplish the organizational or any other goals or motives. The more effective will be the team management and the team work, the more will be the effectiveness of the accomplished task (Turner 2014). We as a group were assigned a job of observing the human resource management in Imaginate Company. We had to determine the aspects of human resource management being initiated by the human resource manager of this organization and providing recommendations accordingly (Armstrong and Taylor 2014). We have accomplished the given task effectively and gain huge knowledge about the various elements that need to be considered by the team members in working as a team. This essay will discuss about the knowledge that I have gathered in working in the team. I will also state some recommendations, which will help to further enhance the effectiveness of the team work. Merits of working in team One of the key merits that have been identified by me in working in the team is the division of the responsibilities. We are five members in the team and among us, we have divided the responsibilities. This helped us in accomplishing the task more effectively. Another key benefit being identified is the generation of more options (Gallie et al. 2012). For a certain point to get evaluated we came up with different and diversified solutions and thus it helped us in having broader considerations during the decision making process. It is also been noticed by me that, due to the team work, the team members came to know each other more effectively. It helped me in gaining diversified and varied knowledge from other team members for a certain issue. Issues identified in the team Beyond the merits and the knowledge that I have gathered from the team work, there are various other issues that had been emerged in the team. At the start of the project, we have decided that Tuckmans teamwork theory will be implemented in order to effectively manage the team (Raes et al. 2015). This is due to the reason that, according to us, step-by-step implementation of this theory will help us to reduce the gap between the team members and understands each others perspective effectively. Figure: 1 Tuckmans teamwork theory Cultural diversity However, from the very first stage of this theory, we have faced issues. Forming is the first step in this theory. According to this step, team member takes time to get them accustomed in the team and determine their role in the team. Allocation of the responsibilities are also been done in this step. However, due to the reason that, the four members of our team are culturally different with having different social backgrounds, allocation of the responsibilities became difficult (Pieterse, Van Knippenberg and Van Dierendonck 2013). No one was ready to opt for complex job. Moreover, selection of the team leader also faced difficulties due to the reason that no one was ready to accept the leader who will be culturally and socially different (Woehr, Arciniega and Poling 2013). Thus, random process was selected and I was made the team leader. I have allocated the responsibilities based on the expertise of the team members. Emergence of conflict Conflict is quite normal in any team work and it is ought to happen. However our team faced the conflict regarding the difference in the opinion of the members. Majority of the opinions of the members are contradictory to one another and thus caused in conflict (Plessis 2012). Moreover, they are not ready to adjust or compromise to some extent in order to solve the conflict. Most notable conflict in our team occurred in determining the effectiveness of the initiation of work flexibility in Imaginate Company. Two members were of the opinion that work flexibility is the best option for the organization to enhance their employee performance, whereas another member came with the opinion that work flexibility will not help to increase the effectiveness of the employees. Eventually it caused the deviation from the core objective of our team. Building of consensus Being the team leader I was assigned the role of building consensus among the team members. However, for creation of consensus, adjustment is required from all the team members, which was not possible in this group. This situation can be related with the norming step of Tuckmans teamwork theory. Due to this reason, I opted for individual meeting with all the members to determine their opinions and arguments and tried to identify the limitations (Ishikawa 2012). It helped them to determine their shortcomings in their opinions. However, it is being seen by me that all the team members are more concentrated in identifying the limitations of other members than their own. Accomplishment of the task I being the team leader initiated the approach of transformational style of leadership. According to this leadership approach, the key objective of the leader is to motivate their team members in accomplishing their task (Tabassi, Ramli and Bakar 2012). I helped them in working out the plan for task accomplishment for the team members. In addition, I helped them in determining and evaluating the issues of Imaginate Company. It enabled me as well as the team members to indentify the core areas of the task and accomplish it effectively. Mechanism of feedback Effective feedback mechanism is important and one of the key factors to enhance the effectiveness of teamwork. This is due to the reason that, for the effective management of the teamwork, it is necessary that all the team members will be effectively communicated with one another and with the team leaders (Tausczik and Pennebaker 2013). In our team, we have initiated an effective communication channel among the team members. It helped me as a team leader in effectively coordinating with the team members and managing the issues and grievances of the team members in time (Tsay and Brady 2012). In our team we have initiated a process of conducting a live meeting among the team members once a week. It helped us in evaluating the job being done by the individual team members in a single week along with identifying the areas of improvement. In addition, we are being connected through the use of various electronic mediums such as mobiles, Skype and social media. It helped us in communicating with all the members at any point of time. I being the team leader initiated the process of garnering feedback from the team members in every week (Dumitrescu, Cetina and Pentescu 2012). It helped me in determining the shortcomings of mine in managing the team effectively. Thus, it acted as one of the key sources of determining factors to enhance the effectiveness of the team management. Recommendations By leading and managing the team in accomplishing the given task, I have gained various diversified ideas and knowledge, which can be further used to enhance the effectiveness of the future teamwork. There are some points that are being identified by me, which may help in enhancing the effectiveness of the teamwork in future. The following sections will discuss about these recommended steps. According to me, effective management of the team starts from the selection of the team members. This is due to the reason that, I have seen in working in the team that if the team members are not being selected according to the requirement of the task, then it will be difficult for the team to effectively work based on mutual cooperation and coordination. Thus, the members should be selected in accordance to the requirement. During the time of selection of the team members, it is also to be considered the cultural aspects, mentality and attitude of the team members. This is due to the reason that differences in culture among the team members caused conflict in the team management. Thus, having team member from similar cultural and social backgrounds should be considered. Time allocation is an important aspect in effective management of team. This is due to the reason that, in our team, all the members cannot able to enhance their relationship with one another due to having less time. People tend to get comfortable with one another after spending a certain time. Thus, it is important to allocate enough time to the team members of the newly formed team. It will help them to understand their co-members effectively and thus the mutual cooperation and coordination will get enhanced among the team members. Conclusion Thus, it can be concluded that in our team work, we have faced various issues in effective management of the team. Key issues identified are the conflict among the members, cultural differences among the members and allocation of minimal time for the teamwork. Various merits such as initiation of effective communication channel and generation of varied and diverse opinions and information are also been observed by me in working in the team. Moreover, knowledge such as how to lead a team and how to create consensus among the team members are being gained by me by working in this team. Based on my gained knowledge, I have stated several recommendations, which will help to enhance the effectiveness of the performance in the future teamwork. Oedipus is a very interesting character in Greek mythology. He encounters many episodes on his journey, escaping the dangers of the prophecy he was told. Oedipus the King us the is quite exciting to the readers because of the dramatic irony Sophocles uses throughout the trilogy. Dramatic irony is when the audience is aware of something that is going to happen in the story, and the charatcer really has no idea. Oedipus the King is a Greek tragedy. There are five basic elements of a typical tragedy. They are prologue, parados, episode, stasimon, exodus. The prologue is basically the opening scene, in which the background of the story is formed. This is usually accomplished by a dialogue between two characters, or by a single actor. Parados is the entrance of the chorus(clarifies the feelings and experiences of the character), usually chanting a lyric that relates to the main theme. The counterpart of the modern scene, where the plot is developed through action or dialogue is called the episode. Stasimon is basically the choral ode. Finally, the exodus is the conclusion or final action, usually ended by a ceremonial exit of all the characters in the tragedy. These are the five basic elements that make up a Greek tragedy. justice and sovereignty essays There are two basic questions in this world. Who governs? And to what ends do they govern? These questions raise concerns over the limits of power given to people. How much power is just? In their writings, Plato, John Locke, and Robert A. Dahl address the question of what is the meaning of justice and sovereignty. Each of them has distinct definitions on what justice is and how it can be applied to power. In The Cave, Plato writes that justice comes from truth. In Platos opinion truth is the path to ultimate good. It is supreme over everything else in this universe. He allows truth to guide his perception of what justice is and should be. Plato thought that justice had to come from that which was absolute. Knowledge and those things that are irrefutable led to truth. Truth in turn led to reason, which led to the ultimate good, which in Platos eyes was wisdom. Without having a vision of their truth, no one can act with wisdom either in his life or in matters of state. Plato believes that in order for someone to reach justice, they must first find out what the truth is. Therefore Plato was saying that in order for one to be just, he/she must also be knowledgeable. They must understand all of the facts surrounding them and accept them as being true to them. Because Plato believes that justice should be based upon truth and knowledge, he then also believes that philosopher kings should be the ones who carry out justice. Since justice derives from wisdom, which guides the minds of the philosopher kings, it is only right that they are the ones who should rule over the people. The philosopher kings will rule over the people justly and unselfishly because their only desire is to reach the absolute truth without any personal gain. While in theory Platos ideas are very reasonable they lead one to believe that they are un ...

Managerial Decision Making - Essay Example Retribution: The first R is by far the most detrimental; the managerial application of retribution is little more than threatening. Managers in some situations resort to direct threats of punishment to create coercion. They may also utilize indirect threatââ¬â¢s to create an implied rather than stated punishment or coercion; this is a common form of intimidation. The major pros to utilizing retribution are the immediate effect and delivery of the managerââ¬â¢s task as specified. On the Con side retribution almost always creates resistance, resentment, & alienation. It also within the organization stifles innovation. Effective managers should very rarely resort to retribution as a tool; it should be reserved for crisis situations where direct action is required. Reciprocity: By definition reciprocity is nothing more than compliance by satisfying the needs of both parties. Reciprocity allows the manager to get results without creating resentment. The major pros revolve around mutual benefit. This enables the manager to achieve objectives without having to bargain or justify the objective with the employee. The Cons are the very basic prerequisite of trust and the inevitable negotiation process with the employee. From the stand point of the organization reciprocity undercuts group commitment. From the management standpoint it takes time to initialize and cannot be used effectively in a crisis situation. Reason: Reason creates a rational articulation of the management concept; subordinates recognize the value of the plan and are more supportive and positive about the managerââ¬â¢s task. The pros are seen as a higher group compliance and greater commitment to team principle. While reason is the most positive management tool it takes the longest period to initialize and requires the cohesion of a unified group trust and belief in the individual manager. Superiors usually rate managers that utilize reason as highly effective. Unfortunately,

Egypt and Mesopotamia Comparison Essay Egypt and Mesopotamia not only differed in their trade and culture, but also in their politics and form of government. Despite the differences though, one is able to notice several similarities between the two civilizations. First of all, Mesopotamia was ruled by kings and queens and nobles could usually attain power as they attained a higher economic status. In Egypt, it was the pharaohs who the authoritive power. In Mesopotamia, the state also had supreme power in the economy and agricultural affairs. Pharaohs were the supreme judges and law makers, as were kings in Mesopotamia. They did have advisors and religion influenced their policies, for example, religion in Egypt is the bureaucracy and actions as did in Mesopotamian civilizations. An example of how morals had an influence in the Mesopotamian laws and policies is Mesopotamian king Hammurabiââ¬â¢s Codes Laws on family relationships. In these codes relied heavily on the principle of lex talionis, or ââ¬Å"the law of retaliationâ⬠basically meaning an eye for an eye. Egyptian law was based on truth, order, balance and justice in the universe. This concept allowed that everyone, with the exception of slaves, should be viewed as equals under the law. One can notice, however, that when Egyptians carried out punishment in their people, they would be relatively unfair. Both civilizations had politics centered around cities or populated areas. This is true because areas or centers that were more populated were more likely to support differences in ideologies, so there would tend to be more conflicts requiring a higher authorative power. The people of these two civilizations were pretty loyal to the policies, especially when they considered the consequences that they would face if they didnââ¬â¢t. For pharaohs in Egypt, their successors were usually their offspring and they carried the empire. In many Mesopotamians though, the kings that ruled didnââ¬â¢t necessarily have to be relatives of the previous kings, though they did take the ways of ruling of the previous kings to learn from them and make sure to be more efficient, as did the pharaohs.

Measure For Measure on the Stage Near the end of his well known treatment of transgression and surveillance in Measure for Measure, Jonathan Dollimore makes an observation about the world of the play that deserves further consideration by feminist scholars: the prostitutes, the most exploited group in the society which the play represents, are absent from it. Virtually everything that happens presupposes them yet they have no voice, no presence. And those who speak for them do so as exploitatively as those who want to eliminate them. (85-86) Although Dollimore's comment about the absence of the prostitutes holds true for the written text of the play, twentieth century theatrical productions of Measure for Measure have largely tended to fill this void by granting the prostitutes a concrete physical presence on the stage. It might be argued that, by giving this neglected and exploited female population a theatrical incarnation, a performance of the play draws attention to the plight of these women and thereby accomplishes some aspects of a feminist agenda. However, a detailed review of the recent Anglo-American stage history of Measure for Measure reveals that the specific way in which prostitutes are embodied and employed in a given production determines the extent to which the production constitutes a feminist appropriation of the text. The treatment of prostitution in performances of Measure for Measure usually falls into one of three categories, which I will refer to as the conventional, lascivious, and adverse portrayals. A conventional presentation depicts the prostitutes as a generally ragged, vulgar, but appealing crew, the routine comic tarts of theatrical tradition, long-suffering but relatively untroubled in their lives of sexual debauchery. By contrast, a lascivious portrayal features an exhibition of the bodies of the prostitutes, offering the spectacle of their seductive sexuality for the consumption of audience members. Finally, an adverse treatment emphasizes the degrading and brutal aspects of the sex trade in an attempt to foreground the exploitation of women (and sometimes children) reduced to the bartering of their bodies by economic necessity. This adverse portrayal most nearly approaches a feminist appropriation of Measure for Measure, but it also tends to sacrifice the comic tone of the play's u nderworld. Can a feminist appropriation of Measure for Measure highlight the demeaning quality of prostitution without forfeiting the option of a comic interpretation of the lowlife of Vienna? This paper will address this question by concluding with a study of one particular production directed by a feminist, Joan Robbins of the University of Scranton, and her employment of prostitutes on stage at several key moments in the play's action.

Procurement Category: Energy Whatââ¬â¢s Wrong with Traditional Energy Management? Start Realizing Untapped Savings Opportunities and Tame Volatile Energy Costs Traditional Energy Management Approaches are Falling Shortââ¬â How to Fix the Problem Energy utility costsââ¬âprimarily natural gas and electricityââ¬âaccount for one to two percent of sales for the average business, and can be as much as four to five percent of cost of goods sold for manufacturers. With energy prices turning volatile, corporate management teams are exposed to the risk of unanticipated movements in energy costs. They are feeling relatively helpless because of the perceived inability to proactively manage regulated energy costs. At the same time, firms are publicly committing to sustainability goals and are now wondering how they will achieve them. Although many firms have implemented short-term measures to address energy costs and sustainability commitments, these efforts are falling short. Our benchmark data and research i ndicates that for most firms, 50 percent of their initial energy savings disappear within the first six to 12 months due to a lack of continuous monitoring, analysis and corrective action. However, significant opportunity to deliver value remains. Analysis from the U.S. Department of Energy indicates firms that embrace continuous monitoring and active energy management practices can achieve 15 to 40 percent energy savings. Conduct an energy audit: To establish an energy consumption baselineââ¬âa basic requirement for successful energy cost optimizationââ¬â firms deploy monitoring devices to measure energy usage from the facility level down to the machine level. Implement audit recommendations: After assessing energy consumption levels and trends down to the machine level, managers can implement process changes to optimize energy consumption. Actions may range from policy formulation (shutting down computers at night, turning off idle equipment, etc.) to automation (automatically turning off lights) to equipment optimization (changing set-points on heavy machinery and equipment). Invest in high-efficiency equipment: With a full view of the energy consumption and equipment efficiency profile of the enterprise, firms can strategically invest in high-efficiency equipment. These capital upgrades can lower energy consumption and may also qualify for rebates and incentives that can significantly enhance potential return on investment (ROI). Figure 1: This paper looks at why traditional approaches are failing, and outlines an active energy management approach that changes the game and generates sustainable energy cost reductions. Typical Monitoring Savings Typical energy management strategiesââ¬âand why they fail to deliver sustainable value. For example, when firms conduct energy audits, employees and equipment operators are aware that their energy usage is being monitored and they make changes to reduce consumption, such as turning off idle equipment. But when monitors are removed, initial savings peak and then slowly erode as employee behavior returns to normal. Similarly, when firms implement process changes, substantial initial savings accrue. However, when the monitors come off, gains decline as equipment schedules change. Operators go back to the old way of doing things and set-points revert to old levels. In addition, without detailed machine-level consumption data as a baseline (as opposed to a point-in-time snapshot), analysts are unable to come up with truly optimal process improvements because the data is not granular enough. Finally, with capital equipment upgrades, savings targets are seldom realized due to unrealistic operating assumptions used to build ROI cases and most firmsââ¬â¢ lack of market intelligence about the complex array of incentives and rebates. 50% Savings A review of more than 100 companies and their practices reveal that most firms take three common actions to address the energy management challenge: Although these traditional energy management techniques can yield quick-hit results, there is a common pitfall: when the meters come off, it is back to business as usual and the savings disappear. ââ¬Å"50 percent of initial energy savings disappear within the first six to 12 months due to a lack of continuous monitoring, analysis and corrective actionâ⬠Months from start 2 A four-step Active Energy Management approach Recognizing where most initiatives fall short, an integrated, four-part Active Energy Management strategy can stop the bleeding and address traditional energy management shortcomings: There are several keys to making energy savings persistent. First, take monitoring and measurement from a one-time analysis to an ongoing, active competency. Leading firms use 24Ãâ"7 advanced metering and monitoring technology with skilled analysts to proactively monitor energy consumption data and patterns. Continuous monitoring helps mitigate the savings leakage described earlier. Active monitoring allows managers to seeââ¬âin near realtimeââ¬âif employee behavior is beginning to change or old habits are starting to return, and identify the root causes when actual energy consumption differs from projections. In addition to preventing savings leakage, active monitoring helps identify new, incremental energy savings opportunitie s, raising the cumulative savings realized. Copyright à © 2014 Accenture All rights reserved. Go deeper: Use machine-level consumption data to drive sustainable process optimization. With a detailed understanding of energy consumption down to the individual equipment level, managers can implement detailed process optimization programs, such as changing set-points for heavy machinery. For example, an air compressor energy consumption study (see figure 2) revealed an opportunity to adjust the operating mode from continuous to throttled, resulting in 7 percent energy savings verified by ongoing measurement. In another example, adjusting improper temperature set-points in a chiller plant based on thorough analysis of usage data resulted in 30 percent energy savings. With the right intelligence and detailed monitoring, energy analysts can assess performance and immediately stop energy savings leakage. Analysts also can spot potential maintenance issues and proactively investigate when machinelevel performance deviates from expectations. Figure 2: 250 Baseline Model Target Model Baseline Data Actual Data 200 Air Compressor (kw) Get persistent: Apply ââ¬Å"Active Energy Managementâ⬠and take monitoring from a onetime activity to an active, ongoing analytical competency. 150 100 50 0 0 20 40 60 80 Air Demand (SCFM) based on Actual Production 100 3 Leverage insight: Use energy demand insight to enhance capital investment decisions and capture incentives and rebates to drive higher ROI. A comprehensive understanding of the consumption profile of the existing asset base enables much better capital investment decisions. Armed with detailed data and realistic energy consumption estimates, managers can rationally weigh the benefits of energy-efficient new equipment versus their purchase costs and other related expenses (decommissioning and disposal cost, production downtime, etc.). Beyond energy data, deep market intelligence of credits, incentives, and local, state and federal rebates can dramatically alter the ROI pr ofile of new capital investments. The opportunities are substantial: In 2011 alone, governments, nongovernmental organizations and utilities distributed more than $6.8 billion in cash payments to promote energy efficiency initiatives. Tackle the supply side: Extend Active Energy Management to integrated energy supply and demand management to drive the next level of savings. As this paper describes, current energy management practices are not delivering on their promises. The short-term benefits of energy audits and near-term recommendations quickly fade without continuous monitoring. On the other hand, Active Energy Management, which includes continuous monitoring and analysis, prevents the traditional savings leakage seen in most energy management programs. It also provides the data and insight that analysts and managers need to identify new savings opportunities and drive continuous improvement and cumulative energy savings benefits. With an established platform of ongoing measurement and management, firms can take energy savings to the next level. Detailed understanding of historical and planned consumption allows for acceleration of supply side strategies. For example, in deregulated markets, the accuracy with which a firm can predict its energy usage determines its ability to secure favorable energy rates by minimizing bandwidth charges. Energy consumers can also capture other savings through techniques like load shifting (shifting usage into lower-rate time periods) and peak shaving. Finally, in regulated markets, contrary to popular belief, firms can optimize their energy expenditures by taking advantage of the various rate structures available to purchasers and being aware of which available rates may be applicable to them. Conclusion Energy and utilities represent a significant and highly volatile area of expenditure for most businesses. However, traditional energy management approaches frequently fail to deliver sustainable results. Many managers consider high energy spend as an area that cannot be addressed due to market regulations and commodity volatility. However, with continuous monitoring and Active Energy Management programs, leading firms can obtain substantial energy cost savings through better energy demand management, sustain those savings through ongoing monitoring and optimize energy purchases with deep market intelligence.

The Inclusion of Inclusive Education in Teacher-Training: Issues of Curriculum, Pedagogy and Staffing Introduction UNESCO has defined inclusive education as the opening up of ââ¬Ëschools, centre of learning and educational systemsâ⬠¦to ALL children. For this to happen, teachers, schools and systems may need to change so they can better accommodate the diversity of needs that pupils have and (ensure) that they (the pupils) are included in all aspects of school life. It also means a process of identifying any barriers within and round the school that hinder learning, and reducing or removing these barriers. Inclusive Education is therefore a process, a product and a philosophy ââ¬â a growing body of approaches, strategies and methods, aâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦In terms of attitudes, they need to possess the professionalism without which they will be unable to respond appropriately to diversity. In terms of values, they need to respect and uphold the rights of every child to a high quality education. This knowledge and these skills, attitudes and values are inter-dependent. For instance, if teachers do not have the right values, they will have negative attitudes towards their students. If they have negative attitudes, they will be unable and unwilling to teach inclusively. They will also be unable and unwilling to learn about inclusive education. Conversely, if they have positive values they have the potential to become inclusive teachers. 3. Curriculum and the Teaching of Inclusive Education in TTIs What form would a curriculum take that supported the above outcomes? In terms of knowledge, students need to be aware of the different forms of diversity to be found among children. These include: gender difference; linguistic, cultural and ethnic diversity; social-emotional diversity; cognitive and academic diversity; and sensory and physical diversity. They need to be aware of the complexity of these diversities. Many of these diversities are inter-connected: for instance, it has been argued that girls tend to learn differently from boys, that they have different ââ¬Ëlearning stylesââ¬â¢, and teachers need to adapt their teaching styles to cater for this (Grossman 2004, pp.209-210).
